Pond Skim is at 11:30am on Sunday 1 October 2017
It’s spring, and spring naturally calls for a Pond Skim! Grab your best (or worst!) beach gear or fancy dress, gather your pals, parents, siblings and/or workmates and bring them along to Pond Skim! Go-on do your best to skim across the pool in Perisher!
What’s that? You didn’t know we had a pool in Perisher? Well we sure do, and it’s going to be the place to win great prizes from some of our awesome sponsors! The prize pool includes great stuff from SkullCandy and PlayStation, awarded for the Best Male, Best Female, Best and Worst Skim, Best Fancy Dress – and anything else we can think up on the spot!
As much fun as these things tend to be as a participant, being a spectator can be a lot of fun too (plus a little warmer)! So we’d love to see you swing by and check out the shenanigans, listen to our DJ and rejoice in the fact that you’re not in a bikini… in a pond… in a ski resort.
HOW TO TAKE HOME THE BOOTY:
1. Every participant will only get ONE attempt to skim the pond.
2. Any participants who successfully skim the length of the pond will go on to the finals!
Contestants in the finals will be judged out of 30 points:
(a) A successful skim: 10 points straight-up.
(b) Your outfit costume: 1–10 points.
(c) Element of difficulty/stupidity/sheer showmanship: 1–10 points (also gauging the crowd response).
Which means actually failing to skim the pond in the finals does not take you out of contention.
Judges will be encouraged to award points to outfits/costumes on the following criteria:
(b) The actual craftsmanship and apparent effort.
(c) The fact that you’re not in a onesie.
There will be prizes for the top scorers as WELL as:
(a) Best costume.
(b) Best-worst Costume.
(b) Best splash/total wipeout.
(c) A bunch of other stuff we’ll probably just make-up on-the-day, that super-impresses the judges.
Registration closes 30 September!
