SMIN Pitch Day @ pin Snowy Mountains Innovation Network | Jindabyne | New South Wales | Australia

The Pitch concludes the Summer Series of events that took SMIN participants through learning entrepreneurial skills such as Design Thinking and Lean Innovation. These tools develop and validate a business idea keeping the resources of time and money to a minimum, whilst building confidence that a successful business can be built.

The Pitch is also the Springboard for the next stage in development, both for the new enterprises and for SMIN itself. Those pitching need you as customer and partner; SMIN needs your involvement to grow its capabilities and reach.

The Pitch exists to empower and inspire members of the regional entrepreneurial ecosystem. At this free event, you will hear from a handful of local entrepreneurs pitching their business ideas to a panel of experienced investors, and a general audience. This event supports the need for our local start-up & early stage entrepreneurs to take their ideas to the next level, and gain valuable experience from the effort.

Selected entrepreneurs will have three mentoring sessions with the SMIN team leading up to the event. Learning and mentoring are critical features of the program, as it helps entrepreneurs understand and highlight insights and information investors need to evaluate a deal. With only a few short minutes that message needs to be on point!

As a participant, this event will give you some inspiration to take the next step in developing your own entrepreneurial dreams and find like minded people to work with! In order to strengthen our community, SMIN seeks to empower and inspire local entrepreneurs to build locally relevant, globally facing, long lasting businesses that provide career opportunities for the people of the Snowy Monaro region.

The Pitch helps local business grow – our community is strengthened by meaningful job creation, and becomes stronger when the more experienced entrepreneurial community contribute their knowledge to help others along their path. When we help one another, our community becomes more connected and stronger.

A pitch day doesn’t have to be about investment, prizes or money. Businesses need lots of other things to help them succeed and that could be customers, employees or introductions to someone with specific skills. It could also be to research new markets – the pitch audience are a potential market and can give you feedback right there.

Our audience and judging panel have acquired a lot of knowledge and contacts over their lives, so the pitch can be about reaching into their world, prompting them to think about someone they know who might be able to help.

Being an audience member at a Pitch Day can be very rewarding too, not only do you get to learn about some people making new businesses, but you may find someone you want to work with or can help in some capacity.

For the successful pitcher’s our investors and mentors will approach you after the event to discuss any further and ongoing relationship. Participating in The Pitch is not a commitment to further engagement. Winner’s of the prizes will be contacted by SMIN to coordinate with our suppliers.
